The Leco FP-2000 Nitrogen /Protein Analyzer is a non-dispersive, infrared, microcomputer based instrument, designed to measure the nitrogen content in a wide variety of organic compounds. How it works: Samples with little or no preparation are weighed into large ceramic boats and loaded into the FP2000, where they combust in the furnace with a pure oxygen environment. Combustion gases are collected in the 4.5 liter volume ballast after passing through a thermo electric cooler to remove H2O. Nitrogen is detected by a thermal conductivity cell. Each analysis is completed in just 4 minutes. Advanced capabilities: The entire system is controlled by a powerful built in microprocessor which utilizes icon driven software and an interactive touch screen providing the perfect balance between advanced capabilities and user friendly operation. Automatic diagnostics, data handling capabilities, curve fitting calibration, report generation, a gas conservation mode and wake up program are a few of the advanced capabilities offered by the system designed to enhance laboratory efficiency, flexibility, and convenience. Unparalleled sample size: The FP 2000 has revolutionized sample representation with its ability to analyze samples of up to four (4) grams, thereby ensuring maximum accuracy of results. No other commercially available combustion analyzer can handle samples as large. Given this unique capability, analyzing a representative sample of characteristically heterogeneous materials such as meats, dietary fiber, grains, pet food, fertilizers, seeds, soils, and plants is no longer a problem. The solution is provided by the FP 2000. The benefits go on: High furnace temperature (programmable up to 1450 deg C) ensures complete combustion of large samples. Patented horizontal combustion system offers reduced maintenance by removing the ash after each analysis. Moisture is removed by an efficient thermo electric cooler. Optional autoloader to provide walk away convenience and full automation. Method approval received from AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists), AOCS (American Oil Chemists Society), and AACC (American Association of Cereal Chemists). The FP 2000 can be upgraded to include C, S, or CS with field retrofit conversion kits.
