Okawara Model CEP-1 Centrifugal Vacuum low temp 316 S/S Evaporator System. 3.7 kw Evaporator drive, (2) Waukesha Mdl 15 S/S jacketed pumps w/ 2.2 Kw Vari speed drives, S/S 2.5 Kw Centrifugal pump, (2) 1.5 Kw Kashiyama Mdl LEH30MA Liquid Ring Vacuum pumps, S/S control panel w/ Mitsubichi Freqrol A200 controller and chart recorder, Yokogawa MC pnematic controller, Mounted on prtable frame w/ (4) casters and leveling legs. Vacuum operation enables low temperature evaporation by decreasing boiling points of liquid materials. Liquid materials supplied in the center of the rotating conical rotor become thin film of 0.1mm thickness by centrifugal force and stay on the heating surface only for 1 second. Liquid materials are transferred from the center to the hem of the rotor, pressed onto the heating surface by centrifugal force to minimize the foaming. The heating side of the rotor is jacketed to uniformly heat materials by steam. Steam condensate in the jacket is flung away from the back of the heating surface by centrifugal force. The back of the heating surface is thus always dry to permit the highest heat transfer mechanism called dropwise condensation. The steam condensate is discharged with air and incondensable inert gases in steam through the pipe fixed at the edge of the jacket. The heating surface is made of a drawn thin stainless steel sheet, having a few steps to withstand the stress. The thin heating surface and large heat transfer coefficient of liquid film and steam condensate offer overall heat transfer coefficient of 5,000 to 9,000 W/m2.K. (water evaporation) Concentrated products are subjected to a centrifugal force of about 200 g and discharged through the paring tube in the groove of the rotor. Even viscous products are easily discharged. The real-time monitoring on the evaporation surface through the sight glasses facilitates the adjustment of the operating conditions during operation. The housing is easily opened to ensure thorough cleaning of the rotor and housing interior. This evaporator is a package type to be easily installed on the small area and ready to start just after connecting utilities.
